Leo speaking to his cousin Antonio:
“Before I left Insurgentes, Sammy asked me to speak with you about something. I waited til’ we had this quiet time to ourselves before bringing it up, because it’s not good news.” He looked down at his hands.
Antonio picked up on the mood immediately. “What is it? Be out with it. You know I like to hear things head on. Don’t beat around the bush.”
Leo had been whittling a mesquite stick, and he threw it on the fire. “Okay. Right to the point. Seems you have a special friend over in Insurgentes. Anna Marie?” he looked up to see Antonio thoughtfully nod his head. His posture stiffened at the mention of her name.
